Taking the easy way out may sound like the best plan of action at the time, however, it just shows you aren’t a hard worker and most importantly – your laziness.  If I had the chance I would drop out of college, but because I have the parents that I have, I’m still here. I can’t even count on my hands how many times I’ve said that to friends and family. And I say this, but I don’t really know if I would ever have the guts to do it.  At least I only have one more quarter left from graduation right?

The thing is, college degrees don’t really mean shit. If you ask 10 random people what their major was in college, and what they’re doing now, there is probably a high probability that ~50% of them will have jobs correlating to what they studied in college and the other 50% wont. So why do we go to college? Because it is this thing drilled into our heads ever since we were in kindergarten. I’m going to say something really out there, however, I just wanted to say it…that is, I think the government made institutions such as school, to create more jobs (well duh), however, they created this thing called “College” just to raise more money. Yeah I know, bizarre think what you want of me, I don’t care.

The reason I think this is because college is just a widely accepted norm. It is an institution that isn’t necessary for our survival. Most of us know the basics of math, reading, and writing straight out of high school which is more than enough to survive in this world. College is this institution which was created just to show that you are dedicated to something and shows you can finish what you start. Yes, a whole 4-5 years wasted just to show someone else you aren’t a quitter, while accumulating massive amount of debt, and losing multiple years off of your life because of stress put on succeeding and getting good grades….Wow.

Whatever, on to the next point. I may have these views about college, however, one thing it is good for is making lifetime friends, networking, and stimulating a higher level of thinking or to say, more outside the box. Yes, I said it, college is good for something. You have to work hard to pass your classes, maybe doing an all nighter. Well that is me, I’m just your average Joe that has to work hard at passing my classes. You other Einsteins that I see never coming to class and the ones I hardly ever see studying who still get straight A’s..Fuck you. Na sorry, I’m just jealous of your intellect.

The reality of it is that I do have to work hard. This trait I have picked up through high school, college, and sports will stay with me for the rest of my life. Taking the easy way out is never an option. I’m an entrepreneur and I never intend to use my degree from college for anything, however, I know that all the hard work and time I put in researching and implementing my ideas will someday pay off. Even though I don’t see any results now, I will in the future. It is like working out. You start off small and/or out of shape, But as time progresses you become stronger and faster. I wouldn’t be where I am today (physical and cardiovascular wise) if I hadn’t been training for the past 6+ years. Back in high school I was a skinny little Asian boy who never lifted weights. My brother and I were told we weren’t going to be starting, let alone make the varsity baseball team more than a year before the next season even started (this is coming from the coach himself)…What the fuck right? We weren’t the big guys who could “mash” the ball and hit home runs. Sorry buddy, but baseball isn’t just about hitting pop flies coming close to the warning track, its about over all skill. It was apparent that we weren’t going to play at all for this guy, so we transferred to another high school. Over the years we worked hard and started on varsity for two years.

A better explanation can be shown through pregnant woman. It’s not an excuse to be lazy and boss around your husband, or if your lucky, some dude that knocked you up and accidentally got you prego who isn’t your husband. Next point. How many times do you walk around or hear someone you know complain about this so called “baby phat” every woman gets while pregnant and keeps after giving birth? It’s fuckin annoying. They tell others that they “have good genes” or “lucky” when they look the same they did before they were pregnant. What they don’t understand is they worked hard to keep that baby phat off.

Many woman I presume will start working out when they are pregnant because of the fear instilled in them of becoming fat. However, their bellies keep getting bigger, and stretch marks keep forming, and still no results. Well shit, your stomach is getting bigger and you ARE putting on weight because you have some little creature crawling around in your stomach eating a portion of everything that goes into you. Well, you may not see results by going to the gym or putting on butter lotion to make your skin more elastic, but if you keep going to the gym, you will see results of your hard work AT the END. It’s not instantaneous, and those who stick it out and work hard while they’re pregnant will be the ones satisfied in the end. Some obvious examples of super stars this can relate to are: Britney Spears (yes, she lost her baby phat and is hot again), Christina Aguilera, Heidi Klum (has had 2 kids), and Jessica Alba just to name a few. Oh I forgot to mention my favorite…yes…Brooke Burke.

Now, how can you tell me they look as if they never gave birth to a child without working hard? So for all you ladies out there stop lying to yourself, and get your self proclaimed bossy ass with bon bons in hand off the couch and into the gym. You may not see results now, but in the end, all this hard work will pay off.

Moral of the story is, don’t be lazy and take the easy way out. If you don’t see results, you will. It may be weeks, months, and even years before you see anything. But, Eventually all that hard work will pay off.
